Booking Terms & Conditions

Before agreeing to take part in any course, it’s essential you read the Terms & Conditions below.

Terms & Conditions

Course Information and Bookings

All information regarding the courses is correct at the time of publication.

Your place on the course is not confirmed until we have received your fee. All fees must be paid before the course begins, unless otherwise agreed with the tutor. Unfortunately, where a course session may be missed by an attendee due to illness or any other reason, we are unable to offer any refunds or exchanges.

If we do not receive the balance of the course fees by the start date of the course, or as otherwise outlined in the payment terms, we reserve the right to offer the place to someone else.

Course Changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the advertised course information (including, but not limited to, course content, tutors, venues and times) for any reason at any time, but will aim to provide as much advance notice as possible, and will always try to replace tutors with someone of equal experience and standing.

Cancellations

What happens if you want to cancel?

We are happy to accept cancellations up to 30 days before the course you are booked on commences and we will refund the full cost of the course.

If you need to cancel less than 30 days before the course takes place, we will do our best to find a replacement and if we succeed, the balance of your fee will be returned. If we are unable to do so, we reserve the right to retain the full fee.

What happens if we cancel?

In the rare circumstance where we may need to cancel a course, we will provide you with as much advance notice as possible and shall either endeavour to offer you an alternative course of the same standing or return all fees paid, but shall not pay travel or any other costs.

For long-term courses (e.g. 6 to 8 weeks), in the event a single course session is cancelled, we will endeavour to provide an alternative course session, but shall not be obligated to do so, and any course fees shall not be refundable.

We do not provide cancellation insurance and advise all those booking places to take out their own travel/other insurance to cover against any circumstances that may lead to the cancellation of your booking.

What happens if you want to leave a course after it has started?

By paying for the course and securing your place you are committing to attend the course for its full duration. We do not pay refunds once the courses have begun.

Conduct

London Lit Lab sets out to offer the friendliest writing courses in the city and beyond, and we want all course attendees to feel supported, by us and by each other.

We reserve the right to refuse a place and to exclude from a course anyone who behaves, in the opinion of London Lit Lab tutors, in an abusive or disruptive manner or engages in any discriminatory conduct. If a student is asked to leave the course on this basis, we will not offer a refund.

Content warnings

As an organisation, we aim to give a warning when tutors share certain written material that might be triggering, and we ask our students to do so too. This can be done simply by adding phrases in a blurb with the material being shared, or verbally during a teaching session. Our content warning policy is included in all course guides.

Confidentiality and Copyright

You agree to keep confidential during and after the course any information and/or material which is divulged by other students on the course as a result of group exercises or discussions (either oral or written). All discussion on the course is private and confidential.

You agree not to make any audio or visual recordings of the sessions, the work of the tutor, guest speakers or of your fellow students whilst attending the course.

You warrant and indemnify to London Lit Lab that any work you may write during the course shall be your own and shall not infringe the copyright of any third party. This warranty shall survive any cancellation or termination of the course.

Data Protection

When you book on a course, apply for a place or register your interest for a course, you agree that we may collect the following data:

  • your name
  • your email address

We will not share your data with any third parties. We will only use this data to:

  • perform our contract with you, including contacting you about your booking or application
  • provide you with relevant information about our courses and services

If you have booked on a course with London Lit Lab, we will send you occasional emails with news of our courses. You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time via a link in the newsletter, or by contacting us at info@londonlitlab.co.uk.

General

We cannot accept responsibility for any loss, damage or expense sustained by students as a result of an event or circumstance whether arising from natural cause, human agency or beyond our control otherwise.

These Terms and Conditions may be changed at any time by us. If we make any changes to these, we will include a notice on the London Lit Lab website. You accept that you will have no claim for breach of contract or otherwise in respect of any such alteration.

By paying the course fee, you agree to the Terms & Conditions above, and your place will be secure.
